COMPETITION DIVISIONS AND CATEGORIES

LEVELS OF COMPETITION:

JUNIOR:
Carvers 17 years of age or under.

NOVICE:
Carvers who have "not" won two Best of Shows in the Novice level in in any participating IWCA Competition.

INTERMEDIATE:
Carvers who "have" won two Best of Shows in the Novice level in any participating IWCA competition.
A carver who has previously won two Best of Shows in the Intermediate level in any participating IWCA Competition may not enter at the Intermediate level after the end of that calender year.

OPEN:
Carvers who have won or entered in the Open Division before or who have won two Best of Shows in the Intermediate Level in the previous calender year.

DIVISION A
IWCA STYLE DECOY
No burning, limited texturing allowed. Feather groups simply carved. No undercuts, must have anchor attachment, keels and weights are judged, must self right, will be judged from 20 ft. No painting restrictions. **See IWCA RULES**

CATEGORY 1: MARSH DUCKS
Black, Gadwell, Mallard, Mandarin, Pintail Shoveler, Teal, Widgeon, Wood, Whistling.
CATEGORY 2: SEA AND DIVING DUCKS
Bufflehead, Canvasback, Eider, Goldeneye Harlequin, Mergansers, Old Squaw, Red Head, Ring-Neck, Ruddy, Scaup, Scoter, Mew
CATEGORY 3: GEESE AND CONFIDENCE
Geese, Swans, Loons, Coots, Cormorant Gallinule, Grebes, and Gulls

IWCA STYLE SHOREBIRD DECOY

CATEGORY 7: IWCA STYLE SHOREBIRDS
Life sized and full bodied, no texturing allowed, mounted on a detachable dowel and base, realistic painting expected. Judged from twelve feet: Avocet, Curlew, Cotteral, Dowitcher Dunlin, Godwit, Killdeer, Knot, Oyster Catcher, Phalarope Plover, Turnstone, Sanderling, Sandpiper, Stilt, Surfbird, Tattler, Willet, Wimbrel, Woodcock, Yellowlegs.
CATEGORY 8: IWCA STYLE SEA AND WADE BIRDS
Note: See Category 7 for instructions. Albatross, Booby, Frigrate, Fulmar, Gull, Jaeger, Kittiwake, Pelican, Petrel, Shearwater, Skimmer, Tern, Bittern, Crane, Egret, Flamingo, Heron, Ibis, Rail and Stork.

DIVISION D
IWCA DECORATIVE LIFE SIZE FLOATING
Fully textured and painted, judged in tank from water line up, must float life like, do not have to self right, keel optional;

Must be full bodied or part of an environmental composition, feet and legs must be constructed by the carver in the open division.

DIVISION F
IWCA DECORATIVE MINIATURES
All species must be one-half life-size or less, maximum eight inches from tip of bill or nose to the end of the tail, must be full bodied, or part of an environmental composition.

YOUTH

CATEGORY 23:
Youth's carvings and or paintings will be categorized as Organizing Committee designates Age/Experience will be factors. Individual entries may also be judged within other categories (novice level) as appropriate and as delegated by the carver and the committee.

NOTE**** ALL CARVERS CAN PARTICIPATE AND CAN ENTER THE PURCHASE AWARD BIRD IN A REGULAR CATEGORY FIRST AND THEN INTO THE PURCHASE AWARD IF THEY SO DESIRE. A TOTAL OF THREE BIRDS MUST BE ENTERED OF EACH TYPE OR THE PURCHASER CAN DECLINE BUYING THE BIRD.
